A Mill Village on Wappinger Creek
Wappingers Falls came together in 1871 when two older communities joined into one village: Channingville, the historic west-side community on the far bank of Wappinger Creek, and Franklindale, its east-side neighbor, the two linked by a stone arch bridge built in 1884. The village has kept its history close ever since, home to Grinnell Library, which ranks as New York State's sixth-oldest public library and still serves readers today. Beyond the old center, the area spreads into its hamlets: Myers Corners, northwest of the village in the Town of Wappinger, the residential streets of Red Oaks Mill, and New Hamburg down on the Hudson River at the southwestern edge. It is a place with a river, a creek, a working past, and a strong sense of where it came from.
SBG Finishing and Paint works across Wappingers Falls, from the older homes near the creek to the newer builds out in the hamlets. We handle interior painting and exterior painting, we refinish kitchen cabinets, and we take on commercial work for the village's businesses. We like a town that still gathers for its June festival and keeps its history close, and we bring the same care to a small back bedroom as to a full storefront.
